Seasonal deep cleaning in a Japanese home

Seasonal Deep Session — ¥30,000

The work that only gets done when time is set aside for it

Four visits a year, each one reaching the places that routine tidying cannot — ventilation, high storage, appliance backs, window tracks, balcony surfaces.

Back to home

What this visit delivers

A home that has been reached — not just tidied

The Seasonal Deep Session is a six-hour visit carried out four times a year, aligned to the transitions between Japan's seasons. Two staff attend. The scope covers areas that most households never reach in ordinary upkeep: ventilation grilles, the interiors of high storage, the surfaces behind and beneath appliances, curtain rails and blind slats, window tracks, and balcony floors and railings.

What you are left with is not just a cleaner home — it is the specific calm of knowing that the parts you can rarely see have also been attended to. That is a different feeling from what a weekly tidy provides, and it tends to hold for longer than you might expect.

Where the difficulty usually lies

Some cleaning tasks resist being fitted into ordinary life

Most people who take care of their homes manage the daily and weekly tasks well. Floors, surfaces, bathrooms — these get done. But there is a second layer of work that requires a different kind of time: pulling appliances away from walls, disassembling ventilation covers, washing curtain tracks, addressing the balcony before the rainy season brings what it brings.

These tasks tend to accumulate not because people are inattentive, but because they require a block of uninterrupted time that is genuinely hard to find. When that time is eventually found, the list can feel large enough to discourage starting.

The pattern we see often

A household keeps the main rooms in good order throughout the year. Once a year — often before a significant occasion, or when the season changes — someone notices what has built up in the spaces behind the ordinary. A day is set aside. That day never quite arrives.

The Seasonal Deep Session is designed to resolve this pattern by removing the decision from the household altogether. The visit is scheduled at the start of the year and takes place regardless of whether the moment feels convenient. It simply becomes part of how the home runs.

Many of our long-standing clients describe this as the most straightforward change they made to how they manage their home.

How we approach it

A structured visit, not an open-ended one

A task list agreed at the start of the year

At the first visit, we confirm which rooms and which specific tasks are in scope. This list is reviewed and adjusted at each subsequent visit if your household's needs change.

Six hours, two staff

Two people working together for six hours reaches a different standard than one person working twice as long. The work divides naturally and the session stays focused throughout.

Curtain laundering, coordinated

For households who want it, we coordinate curtain collection with a partner laundering service. This is handled as part of the session — you do not need to arrange it separately.

Scope

What the session covers

Area Tasks performed
Ventilation Cover removal and cleaning, duct surround wiping, filter inspection and clearing of accumulated material
High storage Top surfaces of cabinets and shelving, interior wipe of accessible overhead units, removal of dust from stored items where accessible
Appliances Behind and beneath refrigerator, washing machine and other freestanding units, top surface and rear grille of appliances where reachable
Window tracks All track channels cleared, frame surrounds wiped, latch and handle cleaning included
Curtains & blinds Rail and bracket dusting, blind slat wipe, curtain collection for partner laundering where requested
Balcony Floor scrub and rinse, railing wipe, drainage channel clearing, perimeter ledge cleaning

Scope is confirmed and adjusted at each visit. Items outside the above may be added by agreement.

What a visit looks like

From arrival to close

First ten minutes

Arrival and walk-through

Staff introduce themselves, carry out a brief walk-through with you, and confirm the day's task list. Any changes to scope are agreed before work begins.

Hours one to three

Structural and high areas

Ventilation, high storage and appliance backs are addressed first, since these generate the most displaced material. Work proceeds methodically through the agreed rooms.

Hours three to six

Detail and exterior areas

Window tracks, curtain rails, blinds and the balcony are completed in the second half of the session. The space is left clean and in order before staff depart.

Same day or following morning

Written summary

A brief note of what was completed is sent to you, along with any observations for the next seasonal visit. Nothing is left vague.

A note on timing

Four visits, spread across the year

Seasonal scheduling means each visit addresses what the current season has brought. The pre-rainy season visit clears balcony drainage. The post-summer visit attends to ventilation grilles that have worked harder through the heat. The late autumn visit addresses what has settled during the year.

Scheduling is arranged for the year at the start. After that, visits proceed without requiring you to remember to book them.

If you need to adjust a specific visit date, that can always be arranged. A modest amount of flexibility is built into how we schedule across our client base.

How the approach works

Why four times

Japan's four seasons each bring distinct conditions — pollen in spring, humidity through summer, settled dust in autumn, dry cold in winter. A quarterly visit catches the effects of each before they consolidate.

What consistent staff changes

When the same people return to the same home four times a year, they know where the dust tends to gather and which areas take the longest. The visit gets faster to organise and easier to calibrate over time.

What the written summary adds

After six hours of work, a household member may not remember what was done and what was not. The summary closes that gap. It also creates continuity between visits — observations from one session carry forward to the next.

Our commitment

What we stand behind

The task list for each Seasonal Deep Session is agreed before we begin. If, at the end of the visit, something within that agreed scope was not completed, we will return to address it at no additional charge.

If you have not used this service before, an initial conversation carries no obligation. We can discuss what your home involves, what the session would typically cover, and whether the schedule makes sense for your situation.

We have been working in the Kobe area since 2017. The way we operate depends on clients feeling that the service was worth returning to. That is what we are trying to provide, each time.
